Highlights

The main highlight of Discovery Park is definitely the wooden castle. With tons of towers, bridges, slides, and ladders, it’s the perfect place for kids to create a story and get creative. Plus everywhere you look there’s a new educational activity for your kids to explore, making this park truly unique.Discovery Park in Pleasant Grove is a beautiful park featuring a gigantic wooden playground built like a castle. There’s also a tot lot area on one side of the castle for kids 5 and under only. This is a fun place that’s set aside specifically for younger kids and it’s really convenient for kids Peanuts age. She can play on the swings, or in the bark without me worrying that an older kid is going to run her over. There are benches for parents to sit and watch in this area too!

Additional Highlights

  • There’s a picnic area in the back of the park that’s surround by beautiful trees and plants that you can sit and have a nice lunch if you bring one for your family.
  • This park also features a large grassy area with a walking path around the outside and a tennis court.

Things to Bring

  • Food and Drink: Food and Drinks are allowed at Discovery Park. There is a picnic area in the back of the park that features tons of beautiful plant life and a fun mural of the handprints of all the volunteers who built the park back in 1996.
    • Water: There is a water fountain on the side of the bathroom.
    • Dining Options: While there is nowhere to buy food at the park, there are plenty of restaurants in the nearby shopping center in American Fork. A quick drive out of the park and you’ll have plenty of options including fast food and sit down restaurants.
  • Wet Wipes & Hand Sanitizer: Since this is a popular park, it’s always a good idea to bring some hand sanitizer and clean up your kids before they sit down to eat. Wet wipes will also help with containing the food mess and the dirt from making its way into your car when you’re ready to leave.
  • Camera: There’s not a lot to photograph here, so bringing your nice camera is probably not worth it unless you’re looking to get some fun action shots of your kids!
  • Clothing: Dress appropriately for the weather that day.
  • Stroller: We brought our Chicco Tre Stroller in with us when we went because we had Bubba with us and he was a small infant at the time. You can push the stroller into the main entrance of the playground, but you won’t be able to get far. There is a walking path around the outside of the park that is stroller friendly too.
  • Sunglasses, Sunscreen & Hat: It’s always a good idea to put on sunscreen before you go outside. This park does have a decent amount of shade, but your kids will likely be in the sun most of the day. I’d also recommend bringing Sunglasses and/or hats for you to help keep the sun out of your eyes while your kids are playing.
  • Seating: There are tons of benches around the playground for you to sit on and watch your kids play.
